Michael D. Kishbauch
President and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Kishbauch, who joined Achillion as President and Chief Executive Officer in July 2004, has had an impressive record of launching and commercializing products over his twenty years of pharmaceutical industry experience. Most recently, Mr. Kishbauch founded OraPharma, Inc., an emerging pharmaceutical company focused on oral health. In less than seven years, Mr. Kishbauch and his team completed clinical development and launched OraPharma's lead product, successfully took the Company public, and ultimately sold the Company to Johnson & Johnson in February 2003. Previously, Mr. Kishbauch spent several years as President and COO of MedImmune, Inc., a top-tier biotechnology company focused on infectious disease and cancer. Prior to that, he served as Vice President and senior product marketing executive for Ciba-Geigy where he oversaw the launches of two products, which at the time were the two most successful product launches in industry history as measured by first-year sales. Mr. Kishbauch began his career with The Procter and Gamble Company, received a B.A. in Biology from Wesleyan University, and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Jerome Birnbaum Ph.D.

One of our cofounders, Dr. Birnbaum has served as our Senior Vice President of Research since February 2000, as a member of the Board of Directors from February 2000 through November 2001, and as a member of our Scientific Advisory Board since January 2002. Prior to Achillion, Dr. Birnbaum most recently was Senior Vice President for Strategic R&D Operations for Bristol-Myers Squibb ("BMS"). At BMS he spearheaded the successful early development of ddI, d4T, cefepime and cefprozil. Prior to joining BMS, Dr. Birnbaum was a Vice President in the Merck Research Laboratories and was involved in the discovery of several important infectious disease therapies including cefoxitin, norfloxacin, imipenem, and the avermectin family of antiparasitic agents (ivermectin). Dr. Birnbaum holds doctoral and masters degrees in microbial physiology and genetics from the University of Cincinnati and an undergraduate degree from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York.

Milind Deshpande Ph.D.

Dr. Deshpande brings to Achillion over 15 years experience working in infectious diseases, and is responsible for leading Achillion's drug discovery efforts. Dr. Deshpande joined Achillion in September 2001 as Vice President of Chemistry, was named head of drug discovery in April 2002, and Vice President of Drug Discovery in December 2002. Since joining Achillion, Dr. Deshpande has led the expansion of the Company's chemical synthesis capabilities, dramatically increased Achillion's compound library and established new strategic drug discovery programs to address key infections diseases. Prior to Achillion, Dr. Deshpande was Associate Director of Lead Discovery and Early Discovery Chemistry at the Pharmaceutical Research Institute at Bristol-Myers Squibb from 1991 to 2001, where he managed the identification of new clinical candidates to treat infectious and neurological diseases. From 1988 to 1991, he held a faculty position at Boston University Medical School. Dr. Deshpande received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Ohio University, following his undergraduate education in India.

Mary Kay Fenton
Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Ms. Fenton, a certified public accountant (CPA), has led Achillion's financial function since October 2000 and has been responsible for building both the financial and operational infrastructure of the Company, managing its fund-raising processes, and ensuring adequate cash management and capitalization for Achillion to meet its strategic objectives. From 1991 to 2000, Ms. Fenton held various positions within the Technology Industry Group at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, most recently as Senior Manager responsible for the life sciences practice in Connecticut. In this position she played a key role in significant equity transactions, including the IPOs and mergers/acquisitions of her clients. Prior to 1991, Ms. Fenton was an economic development associate in the non-profit sector, where she helped launch several community and minority-owned businesses. Ms. Fenton holds an A.B. in Economics from the College of the Holy Cross and an M.B.A. in Finance from the Graduate School of Business at the University of Connecticut.

Gautam Shah Ph.D.

Dr. Shah, who joined Achillion in May 2004 as Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, has over twenty years of broad pharmaceutical experience, most recently as Senior Director of Regulatory Affairs with Sepracor, where he managed pre- and post-marketed products and was responsible for the submission of the Xopenex MDI NDA. Prior to Sepracor, Dr. Shah was in the Regulatory Affairs Group of Bayer Health Care where he was responsible for the FDA liaison function, managing several pre- and post-marketed products in several therapeutic areas, and was responsible for submission and/or approval of several INDs, supplemental NDAs, including the Levitra NDA. Before Bayer, he held positions of increasing responsibilities at Pfizer Inc. in the area of Product and Process Development. Dr. Shah holds a doctoral degree in Pharmaceutics from the University of Illinois, as well as a Master's degree in Medicinal Chemistry and a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy.
