NEW HAVEN, Conn., Jan 25, 2010 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX News Network) -- Achillion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq:ACHN), a leader in the discovery and development of small molecule drugs to combat the most challenging infectious diseases, today announced that Michael D. Kishbauch, Achillion's President and Chief Executive Officer, will lead the Company's management team in hosting a Corporate and Clinical Update conference call on Monday, February 1, 2010 at 4:30 p.m. Eastern time. Management will bring investors up to date on the Company's progress and plans in its three distinct HCV programs:
-- Protease inhibitor program featuring ACH-1625, a compound that has
recently completed successful proof-of-concept Phase Ib testing, and has
demonstrated high potency, unique pharmacokinetic properties and an
excellent safety profile;
-- Novel mechanism NS4A antagonist program featuring ACH-1095, a compound
shown be a potent inhibitor of HCV replication and which is preparing to
enter Phase I clinical studies pending FDA consultation; and
-- Resistance-focused HCV program featuring compounds which, in
pre-clinical studies have been shown to be several orders of magnitude
more potent than other direct-acting inhibitors currently under
development, and which may be effective in prevention and treatment of
emerging resistant variants.
